Read about PSCSTA updates and early August meetings!!!!

Executive Summary: Online CSTA Chapter Leaders' Summit and CSTA Conference were great, and we're inspired to get our membership together to share what we learned there, and to set things in motion for this year's PSCSTA events. We hope you're able to join us for one or both of our meetings in the next two weeks:

  • On Wednesday 8/5 (7-8:30pm) we will have a recap of the CSTA conference, followed by a quick membership meeting (sign up and we’ll send you the zoom link)
  • On Wednesday 8/12 (from 7pm-8:30pm) we will be hosting a Birds of a Feather (group discussion) to share our best practices with on-line learning, particularly as we prepare for our fall teaching. We are planning to invite teachers from across the state to join us.  (sign up and we’ll send you the zoom link)

Details: Three of your chapter leaders attended the CSTA Chapter Leadership Summit on July 9-10 along with over 350 people from across the country. While it was odd not to be in Arlington Virginia, we didn’t miss the hot, muggy weather in the slightest. Instead we experienced a new platform, Hopin, which allowed us to transition between a main stage, concurrent breakouts (sessions) and networking opportunities.

We were really grateful for the opportunity and were able to get a lot of ideas for our group. These include:

  • The importance of planning monthly virtual leadership meetings. These will be held the first Wednesday of every month at 7pm. Please send email to csta.pugetsound@gmail.com if you are interested in joining us.
  • Speaking of which, we learned more about recruiting future chapter leaders (Could that be you?!?!?)
  • We learned about how to market our CSTA chapter, and more about how to use CSTA’s MemberNova system.
  • We heard more about other chapters that have done a CS PD week - we hope to offer something next summer.

There were a lot of other opportunities we learned about:

We hope that you will join us for one of both of our upcoming events listed above. If you can’t, stay tuned for more events this fall.

Best,
